REGISTRO DE ERITRISMO PARA LA CULEBRA DE AGUA Thamnophis scalaris (NATRICIDAE) EN METEPEC, ESTADO DE MÉXICO

Se reporta la observación de dos individuos de la culebra alpina de cola larga Thamnophis scalaris con eritrismo, una cría dentro del Campus “El Cerrillo”, Piedras Blancas, Toluca y un adulto en la localidad de San Gaspar Tlalhuelilpan, Metepec, Estado de México. Nuestros registros, aumentan la información concerniente a esta coloración inusual en ofidios y contribuye al conocimiento existente en particular para la especie T. scalaris, ampliando las observaciones de eritrismo en otros municipios del Estado de México, así como la presencia de esté morfotipo en otros estados de desarrollo y sexo diferentes a los ya reportados. Se discuten las posibles causas y efectos adaptativos de esta variación de color corporal.
