AMPLEXO HETEROESPECÍFICO ENTRE Agalychnis callidryas AND Triprion spinosus EN LA VERTIENTE CARIBE DE COSTA RICA

El amplexo heteroespecífico se informa con frecuencia entre especies con estrategias de reproducción explosiva, pero también se han documentado casos fuera de estos contextos. Este comportamiento impone un costo energético significativo al macho involucrado al reducir su probabilidad de reproducción exitosa. En este trabajo, documentamos un caso de amplexo interespecífico entre la rana calzonuda, Agalychnis callidryas, y la rana coronada, Triprion spinosus, observado en la vertiente Caribe de Costa Rica. Este es el primer caso registrado de dicha interacción entre estas dos especies arborícolas. Recomendamos continuar con el monitoreo de los sitios de reproducción para comprender mejor la frecuencia de estos eventos y sus posibles implicaciones ecológicas.
