The diet of colubrids is highly diverse, including all types of vertebrates. There is evidence that snakes of the genus Leptophis feed mainly on frogs, and to a lesser extent on lizards, birds and sometimes other snakes. However, little is known about the natural history of the snake Leptophis mexicanus. Based on an observation recorded in southeastern Mexico, we report the first record of Thecadactylus rapicauda as part of the diet of L. mexicanus, contributing to the trophic ecology of this colubrid.
