Abstract

A commented list of the species of amphibians and reptiles with type localities in the state of Guerrero, Mexico is presented. A total of 116 species have been described in the state: 43 amphibians (31 anurans, 12 caudates) and 73 reptiles (38 lizards and 35 snakes) and additionally the type locality restriction of two species of turtles to the state is considered correct. Of these, 91 are still considered valid taxa and 58 are endemic to the state. The decade of 1940 has been the period when more taxa have been described in the region, however, in recent decades there has been a renewed interest from many researchers which has been translated in the description of many new species.
