Abstract

We document the first record of Epicrates alvarezi in the province of San Luis, Argentina. This rainbow boa has been categorized as threatened, so the specimens found provide valuable information for the conservation of the Chaco fauna. These records also extend the known distribution for the species approximately 85 km south-west of the Dry Chaco, being the most austere and western records for the species.
