EXPANDING OUR KNOWLEDGE OF ANURANS IN THE COLOMBIAN ANDES: NEW RECORDS OF PRISTIMANTIS BUCKLEYI (BOULENGER, 1882) AND RANGE EXTENSIONS FOR NICEFORONIA ADENOBRACHIA (ARDILA-ROBAYO, RUIZ-CARRANZA, AND BARRERA-RODRÍGUEZ, 1996) AND NICEFORONIA LATENS (LYNCH, 1989)

The distribution of anurans, particularly the genus Pristimantis and Niceforonia, in the colombian Andes remains poorly understood, limiting conservation efforts. This study documents new records of three species in Quindío and Risaralda, contributing to our understanding of their ecology and distribution. Between 2020 and 2025, four high-Andean forest localities were surveyed, resulting in records of N. latens and P. buckleyi in Quindío and N. adenobrachia and N. latens in Risaralda. These records extend the known distributions of N. adenobrachia and N. latens, and represent the first formal record of P. buckleyi in Quindío. Additionally, this study documents the first report of anti-predatory behavior (body inflation) in N. latens. These findings contribute valuable information to our understanding of anuran distribution and ecology, highlighting the need for further research to enhance our knowledge of biodiversity.
