Abstract

The center-west of the state of Veracruz is known as the Altas Montañas region, an area of great interest in the discovery of new species of amphibians and reptiles mostly since the forties, so it has been considered a biologically important area or "Hot spots" for its richness and endemism. We sampled in La Colonia Agrícola Rincón de las Flores, in the municipality of Tezonapa, in the state of Veracruz, 1,207 records and a wealth of 42 species were obtained, corresponding to 16 species of amphibians (38%) and 26 species of reptiles (62%). 37% (23 species) are considered in some risk category, 20 in the Norma Oficial Mexicana SEMARNAT 2010 and 10 in IUCN Red List, seven of them considered in both lists, the CARF herpetofauna has notable records, extensions of distribution, as well as new populations of endemic species and in some risk category.
