Abstract

The existence of anomalies in amphibians has been documented throughout the world. A morphological abnormality is defined as any deviation from the normal range of anatomical variation, which can be caused by mutations, failures in embryonic development, or trauma. In Mexico, the scientific information published on morphological anomalies in amphibians has been recent and in most cases they are isolated cases observed in field. Herein, we present the first report of anophthalmia in Bolitoglossa platydactyla and a case of skin webbing Rheohyla myotympanum. As well as, an updated list of cases of morphological anomalies in Mexican amphibians.
