Trachycephalus typhonius is a common and widely distributed species. Its records in Costa Rica are limited to lowlands, with no previous records in the upper basin of the Río Grande de Térraba. Herein, we report the Milk Frog for this basin, and extend its altitudinal range through participatory records from the local community. The Milk Frog individual was found in the community of Fila Tigre, Coto Brus. Its diagnostic characteristics such as the reticulated pattern of the iris, lack of vertical dark bars on the upper lips, and glandular skin can be confirmed with photographs and allow us differentiate it from similar species such as Smislica baudinii and Osteopilus septentrionalis. Therefore, we support the importance of the local community efforts to known their biodiversity, since they enrich the knowledge of the fauna and allow us to focus future exploration or research efforts in the area.
