Abstract

Reports of interspecific amplexus are common in species that possess explosive breeding, however, interspecific amplexus events that involve dead individuals are not as common. Here, we report two interspecific amplexus events that involve two Smilisca cyanosticta males, one with a living specimen of Agalychnis moreletii and the other with a dead female of Craugastor decoratus. This type of amplexus is an energy loss to the male involved, preventing its reproduction.
