Abstract

We report for the first time an advertisement call of Craugastor mimus, which consists of a short and weak tonal note, without modulated frequency, like a “pip” sound, emitted every four to nine seconds. The report of this advertising call in C. mimus confirms that, in Costa Rica, all species in the C. laticeps species group can produce vocalizations, despite the absence of vocal sacs and vocal slits.
